Growing Pains

Brady went back to school this week after a LONG summer! Of course there were many obligatory photos to be taken. When I compared last years first day of kindergarten to this years first day of first grade, I was surprised to see how much he'd grown. He'd been complaining of pains in his legs recently, when he woke up, when he went to bed, If the size of his legs are anything to go by, I can now only assume he was experiencing growing pains! Looks like our boy is going to be a big one!

Another year!

Well, yet again, another year has passed us by, faster than I can keep up. Until I became a mum, the days, weeks, moths and years seemed to pass by so slowly. In my opinion, not until you become a parent, do you realize just how fast time goes, it's quite sad.

Brady is 6 now and just about to enter 1st grade! Kindergarten was an interesting  year, but he enjoyed it very much.

He's still full of classic comments, none of which I can remember off the top of my head.

Out the mouth of Mummy!

We have been teaching Brady to ride a bike this summer, it's been hot and frustrating, but today he finally pedaled off by himself!

I was out with some girlfriends for dinner and Jamie sent me the video! First I was speechless, then I it was, "OMG OMG OMG, my baby is riding a bike, all by himself, I'm so excited I could cry".

Yet another milestone in the life of Brady!

Oh and did I mention he has a loose tooth? Yeah, he does! It's all too much growing up for me to handle, so excuse me whilst I wipe away the tears.

Hey Pretty!

A few days ago I was working in the kitchen when Brady sidled up to me with an empty can of coke in his hand and said, "Hey Pretty!". He had such a cheeky look on his face, my thoughts flashed forward and I thought of 20 years from now, him out in a bar!!! I just hope he still has a can of coke in hand....!

Smarty Pants!

Brady is going to preschool 5 times a week this year, in preparation for kindergarten next year. His new school is from 9am-1pm, so he gets to take his lunch. So far it's going well for everyone!

Tonight at dinner we were talking about how he'll learn to read at school and will be able to read all by himself. He wasn't impressed!

Mummy: At school, the teachers will teach you words so you can learn to read, isn't that great?
Brady: No, I don't want to learn to read!
Daddy: You don't? Why not?
Brady: Because I'm already too smart!

I have to say, he has a point!

Happy Birthday Song!

Well, our week at the beach is over, we are currently in the car, heading home! We will miss the beach, but we're all excited to see our own beds!

So, driving along the interstate and Brady says:

Brady: Mummy, when it's my birthday, can we sing a garbage happy birthday song?
Mummy: Sure, but how does it go?
Brady: Happy Birthday Garbage Boy, Happy Birthday Garbage Boy, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Garbage Boy!

On the way home from the beach, we stopped in Palm Beach Gardens to visit the Playmobil Funpark (along with garbage trucks, Playmobil is Brady's other obsession),

Anyway, whilst there, Brady had a great time and made some friends, in particular, a girl, he really is a social little guy and makes friends so easily :)

At the BEACH!

Wow! Has it really been that long since I posted? I'm full of good intentions, but life as a stay at home mum of a now 4 1/2 yr old is pretty hectic!

Lots of changes everyday, but one thing stays the same and that is the wonderful things Brady says!

We are at the beach this week, Miami Beach to be precise!

Keeping with the beach theme, Brady told me a joke earlier!

Brady: Mummy, do you know how fish speak to each other?
Mummy: No, how do they speak to each other?
Brady: they use a "shell phone".....ha ha ha!

I'll try to be more consistent with posts, but I've made that promise before, so we'll see!

Nap time

Everyday when I take Brady for a nap, he asks me to stay and nap with him, I always tell him I can't because I have to go downstairs and clean up.

Mummy: Come on Brady, time to nap.
Brady: OK, but I just gotta pick up my toys.

*picks up tous*

Brady: Mummy, I cleaned up my toys, so that means you can nap with me, right?

Laying on Brady's bed, he cuddled up to me.

Brady: I love you mummy.
Mummy: I love you too Brady. Do you know what it means to love somebody, can you tell me?
Brady: It means, here (pointing to chest) in my heart, that's where I love you.

I feel so very fortunate to be raising such a thoughtful & loving child, I hope that never changes.

Hearing.

Often when hubby and I have a conversation with Brady around, we try to make sure he's otherwise occupied, but his hearing is quite amazing and it's not always possible, which leads to hubby or I having to say "Don't say that in front of him".

Mummy: BRADY, stop doing that, they'll break! (He was swinging my iPod earphones around)
Brady: No mummy, don't say that in front of me!

He clearly takes everything a little too literally!

Together!

Recently, Brady LOVES Toy Story, especially number 3, because there's a "bin man" in it, he's fascinated by them.

Anyway, recently we borrowed it from the library and have been watching it back-to-back!!! During the ending credits the other day, Brady turned to me and said:

Brady: Mummy, we belong together.
Mummy: Who does?
Brady: We do.
Mummy: Who's we?
Brady: You and me and daddy! And we belong together, don't we?

In case you don't know, the song at the end is called "We Belong Together" by Randy Newman.
